New Zealand and Australia
Ours was a journey of 10,000 miles. Intrepid New Englanders, we went to Australia and New Zealand to enjoy summer in February and to see our son in Wellington, New Zealand. The Aussies were friendly and open. “No worries, mate. Are you here for the tennis?” No tennis was on the agenda, but we heard a Verdi opera at the Sydney Opera House right on the harbor. In New Zealand, driving through the South Island, we went through spectacular Alpine mountains and saw vineyards, farmlands with thousands of sheep, and teal blue lakes, their color created by ground glaciers.
