Chorus pro Musica is excited to announce the addition of our newest staff member – Austin Stewart, Director of Operations!
Austin is a transplant to Boston having recently relocated from Ann Arbor, MI. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in arts administration, fundraising, and artistic development.
He is an arts administrator, cultural innovator, musicologist, and singer. From 2015–2017, Austin was Audience Engagement Coordinator at Michigan Opera Theatre where he oversaw community programs for adult and college-aged audiences and managed content and messaging to partner organizations throughout Metro Detroit. He received a PhD in historical musicology from the University of Michigan, and he researches opera and civic identity, the American West, and artistic citizenship. He is also writing a book on amateur opera companies.
In addition to his work with Chorus pro Musica, Austin is also Acting Director of Institutional Advancement with Michigan Opera Theatre. He lives in Newton with his husband Charlie and dreams of one day having an apartment that allows dogs!
Austin will be managing the organization’s operations and joins our existing staff, Music Director, Jamie Kirsch, and Chorus Manager, Jean Player. He can be reached at operationsdirector@choruspromusica.org. Welcome to the team, Austin!
