J.S. Bach’s timeless expression of consolation, and even joy, in the face of death was joined with a collection of classic and modern choral masterpieces, with organ and string accompaniment, proclaiming the joy of life and eternal love.

Program included:

J. S. Bach: Jesu, meine Freude
J. S. Bach: Der Herr denket an uns
Johannes Brahms: Kleine Hochzeits-Kantate
Daniel Pinkham: Wedding Cantata
Eric Whitacre: Five Hebrew Love Songs

Boston Musical Intelligencer: “The third movement [of Pinkham’s Wedding Cantata], Awake O North Wind, showed Chorus pro Musica at its most operatic; Burleigh drew well-controlled crescendos and expressive contrasts that made it hard for the audience not to burst into applause before the mostly a cappella setting of Set me as a Seal… I could have listened to them all day.”
