Following the acclaimed 2016 performance of Gershwin’s Of Thee I Sing, Chorus pro Musica returns to Arlington, MA with Bernstein’s brilliant operetta based on a novella by Voltaire, with lyrics by Richard Wilbur, Stephen Sondheim, and others. Prompted by parallels between Voltaire’s satire of the Inquisition and McCarthy’s congressional “witch hunt,” the operetta has become a modern classic, with popular songs such as “The Best of All Possible Worlds,” “Glitter and Be Gay,” and “Make Our Garden Grow.”
